Australian Mallee Burl Bowl

$222.00

Made from a very hard burl wood, this bowl was spun at high speed, on a lathe using freehand tools. The wood is come from a burl growth on the side of a tree, and the Aussies can cut them off without harming the trees growth. The bottom has a flatten area to sit on a table, for example. The bumpy bottom is natural and whitish. This would be the area that is next to the bark. The center wood tree is red-brown with nice marbling. This piece is from old stock and shows a older labeling method of PHD. Now a day this wood is becoming harder to acquire. Size 10’ x 12’ x 1 13/16” #140
