I very much enjoyed making this carving. Exploring the wood patterns and colors. All the color pattern are the natural color of the wood, from a single piece. The shape arose as wood was roughly removed. This helped define the colors into zones. Red Mallee from Australia is one of my favorite woods patterns. The wood is very hard and the final shaping and smoothing requires 3 to 4 times the effort and requires lots of hand work. Size: 6 3/4” wide 4” deep 1 1/4” tall
