Hematite after Magnetite

Sale Price:$2,700.00 Original Price:$4,500.00
sale

The superb, aesthetics, and simply amazing pseudomorphs of Hematite after Magnetite were an absolute sensation when they came out of Argentina in 2000-2002. Metallic and often scintillating, this small cabinet piece is one of the best of these Hematites I have seen, boast both great visual balance and high complexity. The sharp octahedrons are equant to structures. It looks GREAT from any angle, even from what Jack perceived as the bottom”, where he put his number. “Superb 3-dimensionality” would almost be an understatement, but those are all the dimensions we have! From a volcanic vent in a current national park, collecting these sculptural pieces is now strictly prohibited, so these are a thing of the past. Actually, this came up in the first group of material, which came to dealers in Southern california through a friend of dealer John Attard in San Diego: This particular specimen was in the first group of high quality material any of us had seen, in a batch sent to John at the time. Rob Lavinsky lived around the corner from Attard and took this to show Jack, from that very first lot!…and it has remained with Jack for the last 20 years. there are numerous references to Jack and his collection in Size: 7.3 x 6.8 x 4.2 cm Location: Payun volcano, Meddoza Province, Argentina
